I am a designer from India, now residing in Dubai. I co-founded The Climber, a social enterprise working in the field of education which has impacted more than 100,000 students across India, where I led the design team since it's inception 7 years ago. Prior to that and during that period I have worked with various companies on product design and branding projects. Much of my work has been centred around social impact & education.

Through my entrepreneurial journey I realised my interest in service design and its potential to create a positive impact on people's lives. According to me collaboration, exploration and experience play a pivotal role in building impactful design systems. I have mentored more than 100 design students and aspirants so far, and while some of them have gotten into Design schools, others are actively working in the field!

I enjoy reading and working on DIY projects. I'm currently reading 'The Ethical Design Handbook' and 'In Other Rooms, Other Wonders'. I'm also currently crocheting a beach bag for myself and tinkering with the 3D doodle pen I got for my birthday.

Former Visual Designer, MyCaptain
Working with Fatema for 3+ years has been like a breath of fresh air for me and the entire team at MyCaptain. She comes with a strong sense of empathy towards the users, and is very solution centric. In the early stage days of MyCaptain it was Fatema's strong sense of communication design and design systems that set our product apart in all the clutter around online education. She is innovative, creative, and very patient - a true design entrepreneur in those sense. I would always grab on an opportunity to work again with her!

A project that is extremely close to my heart is my wedding card that I designed last year. The card takes inspiration from my culture and reflects my values. The duogram is a floral geometric motif composed of the alphabets 'F' and 'M' in a kufi script. The cards were screen printed on handmade 'seed-paper' which was sourced from 'Beej-Patra' an organisation working towards upliftment of women and farmers in Maharashtra, India. We put the seeds of Amaranth and Roselle, both flowering plants that have a variety of uses. Everybody was excited about planting the cards and shared pictures with me as the plants grew.

I love new experiences and the thrill of not knowing what is next. Going through my old pictures is one of my favourite pastimes.
